Speedometer processes your device’s GPS location locally to calculate and display your current speed and related metrics. We do not create user accounts, and we do not upload your location or measurement data to our servers.
1. What data we collect
- Precise location (GPS): Required to compute speed, distance, and heading while the app is in use or running in the foreground service.
- Device identifiers: Temporary and device-only identifiers used by the operating system or service providers (e.g., Google Play services) for functionality such as location and diagnostics.
- Diagnostic logs & crash data: May be collected by the operating system or Google Play to help us improve stability and performance.
We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other contact information inside the app.
2. How we use data
- Provide core features (speed, distance, heading, compass, etc.).
- Improve app quality, safety, and performance (e.g., debugging crashes, preventing misuse).
- Comply with legal obligations where applicable.
3. Data storage & retention
- Location readings are processed on-device in real time and are not transmitted to our servers.
- We do not maintain a cloud database of your trips or locations.
- Crash/diagnostic information, when provided by platform services, is retained according to those services’ policies.
4. Sharing of data
We do not sell or rent your personal data.
We may share limited information with:
- Service providers (e.g., Google Play services) strictly to enable app functionality, analytics, or crash reporting.

6. Children’s privacy
Our app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided personal data, please contact us to delete it.
7. International transfers
We do not operate our own backend servers for this app. Any transfers performed by platform services (e.g., Google) are governed by their policies and safeguards.
8. Your choices & rights
- You can disable location permissions at any time in your device settings; core features will not work without location.
- You can request deletion of crash or diagnostic data that we directly control by contacting us.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed by the app. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
